We have two exciting updates right now for SHP Curriculum PATHS. The first update is the launch of our brand new Curriculum PATH Sharing Hub using Padlet.
You can find the Curriculum PATHS Sharing Hub via the main landing page here: www.schoolshistoryproject.co.uk/curriculumpaths or via Padlet directly: www.padlet.com/cpaths/hub.
You can find the Curriculum PATHS Sharing Hub via the main landing page here: www.schoolshistoryproject.co.uk/curriculumpaths or via Padlet directly: www.padlet.com/cpaths/hub. It’s a bit empty at the moment but we would love some feedback. We have another 4 units on the way too.
From the Sharing Hub you can also share your own Unit PATHs. If you click on the link on the hub you will be provided with a template to draft and share your planning. The brilliant thing about the Padlet solution is:
- It is MUCH more user friendly and appealing – meaning you can spend more time thinking about how the Ethical Principles are shaping your work.
- It automatically gives us a link to your new Padlet so there’s no complex process to share.
- It leaves you with total ownership over the Padlet, so you can draft, modify or update your Unit PATH as you please.
- It allows you to add links to copyrighted materials without breaking copyright law.
- It enables you to customise what you want to share and how.
- It allows you to collaborate with other teachers, really building on our aim to develop professional dialogue.
- It has a set of features to allow you to receive comments and feedback on your Unit PATH (if you want).
We really think this fits well with the aims of the Curriculum PATHS project – especially in terms of encouraging sharing a co-creating between teachers. Please do share with colleagues and tell us what you think of the new approach.
The second exciting announcement is the impending launch of our new venture: PATHfinders: Planning Inspirations.
PATHfinders is aimed at teachers who have a passion for crafting curriculum units based on recent sources and research. We know there is so much creativity in the history teaching world, but it is not always easy to have the time to search for sources, or find the latest interpretations. This is where PATHfinders comes in.
Each half term we will be sending out a PATHfinders update which will provide you with new, exciting, accessible sources and scholarship, which can then be used alongside our Ethical Principles to inspire your history planning.
To kick us off, we are delighted to be collaborating with the British Library, who are busy curating a range of sources and learning materials for a new website, Discovering Historical Sources, which is focused on migration and empire history.
We hope that the PATHfinders updates will empower more of our members to share their work via Curriculum PATHS Unit Hub.
Please do let us know what you think in the comments or via the SHP website.
